Sinou Steak (Senopati): One of the best mid-priced steakhouses out there

I don’t get why Sinou Steak is rarely full. There are only 2-3 tables filled even in weekend lunch time. I think, and many who have eaten here seemed to agree, that Sinou serves arguably the best steaks around the IDR 100-150,000 price range.

Last time I went here I went alone. Ordered the beef ribs. The size of each rib wasn’t too big (compared to, for example, Outback), but there are four of it and it’s great.

The beef is tender, and they come off from the bones easily. There’s fat, which is expected from rib meat, but not too much.

The barbecue sauce isn’t overpowering. In many steakhouses (again, Outback comes to mind) I feel the taste of the sauce overwhelms the meat character.

Everything on the plate were done right. Sinou has an assortment of sauces which are quite good. The Sinou sauce is my favorite. The french fries has the right crispiness; it’s salty, but still retains the potato taste. The vegetables are fresh and nice.

Often steakhouses would not pay attention to the side-dishes that come with the meat. Not this one.

It’s a really great place to enjoy some serious steaks. In Jakarta today there are so many chic & ‘artsy’ places which are astonishing in design but serve half-hearted food.

I hope Sinou remains for long. Because it deserves to be a go-to place for meat lovers.
